Sometimes I have to remind myself just how awesome it is that I am able to photograph weddings in the greatest city in the world. It’s hard to not become desensitized to what New York City has to offer when you have grown up around it your entire life. Alex & Pat’s wedding certainly did a good job of shaking me up with the wonder NYC has to offer. And we didn’t even leave the Bowery Hotel. There are obviously a whole lot of wedding venues in NYC, but the Bowery is in it’s own league. One of the more famous hotels in the city, it’s a place where celebrities choose to stay (hello Aziz Ansari, BJ Novak & Nick Jonas I saw you) and the views from the suites are unparalleled. It definitely embodies that classic, New York City wedding feel.
I always think it’s pretty cool, not to mention logistically easier, when you’re able to host an entire wedding day at one location. Even cooler when that location is the size of a NYC hotel. When we ventured out for photos after Alex & Pat tied the knot, it was already night. So, we had to get creative. Enter New York City traffic. The perfect place to get some assistance with artificial lighting! It’s a weird thing, NYC traffic is. You never really feel unsafe walking past it, through it or standing in it so that’s exactly what we did.
