When you think of a DIY backyard wedding, you normally think about making things work the best you can. You usually don’t think about turning your parent’s East Hampton home into a legit wedding venue. Danielle & Ely didn’t just settle for standing in a spot over there for their ceremony and placing tables over here and calling it a day. Over the course of a year, they constructed the entire seating area for their guests, mowed and groomed the entire ceremony location, handmade every piece of detail you’ll see below. It was truly a Herculean effort and I couldn’t believe this was all handmade when I arrived. I think they redefined the backyard wedding genre.
And since all of that wasn’t enough, Ely cooked every course for every guest at his own wedding DURING the wedding. It was a pretty crazy thing to witness and document and it’ll probably be the last time I do because even he admitted it was crazy. It did make for some awesome moments though and was a blast to capture. Alright, on to the backyard glory that was Danielle & Ely’s wedding out in the Hamptons on Long Island.
